When independence was declared by Ho Chi Minh in 1945 then turned down by the French, Triet, who was 15, joined the resistance. He initially gathered revenue and sang propagandistic music using a youth brigade, then entered the Viet Minh Military. Wounded in overcome in 1952, Triet saw the French defeated two decades later on and then moved north
